Patrick Pype

Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and External Relations, NXP Semiconductors

Patrick Pype was born in 1962 in Belgium. He has studied electronics engineering and MBA at the KULeuven, Belgium. He is currently ‘Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and External Relations’ at NXP Semiconductors. He has joined Philips Semiconductors – which has become NXP Semiconductors – in 1999 as Technology Liaison Officer and thereafter became Business Development Manager and headed a group of Connectivity IP development. In 1996 he founded CoWare, a company which developed hardware/software co-design tools and which has been acquired by Synopsys. He was Business Development Manager & Key Account Manager for Europe at CoWare. From 1986 till 1996 he worked at IMEC as project manager for strategic projects, program manager and business development manager. He is evaluator and reviewer for several projects and project calls for the European Commission since 1994. He is a member of the PENTA Technical Expert Group since 2016 and he is member of the ARTEMIS Steering Board since 2015. He is a founding member and Board Member of ATL Europe (Association of Transformational Leaders Europe) since 2012 and he was a member of the Board of Directors of Alumni Lovanienses, the Society of Alumni of the KULeuven from 2008 till 2016. He has contributed two papers in the book “Automated Driving – Safe and More Efficient Future Driving”, edited by Daniel Watzenig and Martin Horn, and published by Springer in 2016. During his limited free time, he loves to attend opera performances and other musical concerts, and he collects model trains. He is author of the book “From Innocent Fool to Transformational Leader’’, which will be published in 2018. The book offers inspiring insights from the world of opera for leaders in business & politics, coaches, teachers and students.
