Director Innovation & Knowledge, Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs
Mr. Wesseling is Deputy Director General for Enterprise & Innovation (DGE&I) and Director Innovation & Knowledge department (I&K), Ministry of Economic Affairs.
DG E&I is responsible for the Topsector approach, business contacts, ICT & administrative burden and Biobased Economy. The DG and most of all the department Innovation & Knowledge has a special government-wide responsibility for Dutch innovation policies.
Mr Wesseling held several positions at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. He was Acting Director Industry & Services at the Directorate General for Enterprise & Innovation and before this Director Spatial Economic Policy at the Directorate General for Enterprise & Innovation and Head of the office of the Secretary-General at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. He also held positions at the Management Team of the EVD, an agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, for international business and cooperation and Senter, an Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs responsible for the execution of innovation and export programmes. Before this he was employed at the Department of Economics (Faculty of Law) of the Leiden University and at the AMRO Bank Corporate Banking Division.
